The day after the Hurricane
Its been raining for 24 hours. Gloomy.
Wet, cold, fog, waterfalls, streams
Wet jean bottoms
Umbrellas and rainy souls
Walk to class and avoid puddles
Come home and jump in them as I pass
The melancholy sounds of drops
Trickling down the gutter onto dirty
Nature cleansing itself
Constant noise, relaxing and sedating.
Had the apartment to myself today
Thought of nothing but you, you
On the other end of that seemingly
Endless phone cord line.
